Safety note wow gold scrawled on damaged aircraft wing

A concerned passenger snapped the above photo midway through an Alaska Airlines flight recently, prompting a viral flurry on Twitter and an apology from the airline for any alarm caused.

The handwritten message "We know wow items about this" pointed to what appeared to be a missing section of the wing.

Spokeswoman Bobbie Egan said the note was left by a well-meaning technician who wanted to reassure flight crew that the apparent damage was nothing to worry about.

"The message was the result of someone's good intentions," Egan explained, adding that it "was not appropriate and did not follow company procedures".

The wow gold writing was immediately removed.

Recently, while returning to Melbourne from a holiday in Hong Kong, I had reason to be on a connecting flight between Hong Kong and Singapore on Geruda Air Lines to make a Quantas flight back to Melbourne.
